In Kolašin, there are multiple options for recreation and training – hiking, mountain climbing, alpinism, mountain cycling, speleology, etc.

On Bjelasica Mountain near Kolašin, there is a transversal trail “Through Montenegrin Mountains” CT-01. This transversal has a character typical for international hiking trails, and it goes over the territory of Montenegro, as an extension of European transversal “Long Distance Trail E-6”. This trail goes from Bukumir Lake – Žijovo Mountain – Komovi – Bjelasica – Sinjajevina – Black Lake – Durmitor.

Some of the standard mountain routes where you conquer picturesque tops of Morača Mountains are:

  • Captain’s Lake (Kapetanovo jezero) (1672 m) – Lastva (2225 m) – Zagradac (2217 m). It takes around 4 hours for this tour and the difference in elevation is around 555 m.
  • Captain’s Lake (1672 m) – Manito Lake (1764 m) – Stožac (2140 m). The length of this tour is around 2.5 hours, and it is around 5 km long.
  • Strug (1475 m) – Popov Do (1750 m) – Borova Brda (2006) – Mali Zebalac (2073 m) – Veliki Zebalac (2129 m). This is an extremely long tour, and it takes around 4 hours.
  • Osreci (1375 m) – Ropusnica (1472 m) – Korita (1485 m) – Ruda Glavica (2020mnm). This is a three-hour-tour.
  • Bare Bojovića (1540 m) – Veliki Zurim (2036 m) – Mali Zurim (1962 m) – Ilin Top (2051 m). This is bit longer tour, of around 4 hours, and 7.5 km.
  • Crkvine (1045 m) – Bistrica (1258 m)- Barski Katun (1462 m) – Mioski Katun (1542 m) – Umovi (1945 m). This is a 9 km-long route.
  • Međuriječje (211 m) – Mrtvo Duboko (360 m) – Granica (1042 m) – Poljana (1594 m) – Međeđi vrh (2139 m). This is a bit more challenging route, with bigger difference in elevation, and it takes more than 6 hours.

There are mountaineering expeditions taking the following paths:

  • Kolašin (940 m) – Gornje Lipovo – Klisura (1189 m)- Katunina (1418 m) – Djedov Do – Džavrlje – Babji Zub (2277 m). The difference in elevation is around 1100 m, it is around 8 km long, and the tour takes around 5 hours. Some parts of the tour are inspiring, even for more experienced hikers.
  • Kolašin (954 m) – Gornje Lipovo (1208 m) – Vratlo Gorge (1730 m) – Pilac (1872 m) – Jablan Top (2203 m). The length of this route is around 8 km, and it takes around 4 hours. The route is attractive and includes an excellent view, passing through smaller lakes and various katuns.

The best season for mountain climbing is late spring, summer, and early fall.
