Corypheus Festival

The International Festival of Alternative Theatre "Korifej" has been held in Kolašin since 2014 from mid-July to mid-August. The festival is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture. The project is organized by the Municipality of Kolašin and "Korifej Teater", under which the theatre life in Kolašin operates. It is implemented with the help of the Public Institution Kolašin Cultural Centre, the Kolašin Town Hall, the Municipality of Kolašin, Ski Centre 1600 and the Biogradska Gora National Park.

The idea is to present as many events as possible on the streets and squares of Kolašin, as well as in alternative spaces and environments. Street performances are also interesting.

In the past period, the festival has presented theatre performances from Sweden, France, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The selection of foreign performances is rich and diverse in genre, and what makes it special is that they are made using the means of a universal language – movement, mimicry, pantomime, non-verbal gesture, body theatre and so on, and are mostly easily understandable to the domestic audience.

In addition, the repertoire often includes projects from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje. A significant segment of the program is represented by plays for children, as well as workshops for children and youth, as well as for all interested parties who want to learn something new through play, fun, and the creative process.

Numerous exhibitions are also presented as part of the festival.

In the past period, the workshops of acting, dramaturgy, directing, puppetry, graphic design and painting were led by well-known names of the regional theater.

The "Korifej" festival significantly contributes to the presentation of the rich cultural heritage of the north of Montenegro.
