Barutana

The Gunpowder Mill on Vinića Hill is a very interesting historical building built in the second half of the 19th century. It was designed by an Orthodox Greek who served in the Turkish army. According to legend, this Greek secretly agreed with the Morača chieftains to build it with a cross-shaped base, so that the building could later serve as an Orthodox church, because the imminent fall of the Ottoman Empire was expected and felt.

When the Turkish commander saw what Barutana looked like, he immediately executed the Greek. From the place where Barutana is located, today there is the most beautiful view of Kolašin, the river Tara and their surroundings.
