A mountain of different characters
Bjelasica is not a typical Montenegrin mountain. Unlike its sharp-peaked neighbors, it unfolds in four distinct ridges that run from northwest to southeast, each offering a unique experience.
Reef 1: Kobilja glava - Miljevaca - Bikova glava- Kljuc
The first ridge, which includes Kobilja glava, Miljevaca, Bikova glava, and Kljuc (1.972 m), offers an endless panorama. View of the wide valley of Tara, the town of Kolasin, and the surrounding mountains - Sinjavina, Moracke planine, Komovi, and Ostrvica. This relatively flat and rounded ridge was once a popular venue for Nordic skiing competitions.
Reef 2: Donji Lumer - Gornji Lumer - Goles - Lisa - Troglava - Zekova glava
The second ridge, located between the Biogradska and Musovica rivers, offers a more sublime experience. Although lower than the first, it is crowned by Troglav (2.075 m) and Zekova Glava (2.117 m), some of the most prominent peaks of Bjelasica.
Reef 3: Lanista - Razvrsje - Svatovsko groblje - Crna lokva - Crna glava
The third ridge, carved between Bjelojevica and the Biogradska River, is the place where Bjelasica reaches its peak. Here, Crna Glava (2.139 m), the highest peak of the mountain range, pierces the sky. This central part, known as Siska planina, offers challenging terrain, especially the incredibly steep Capricorn side with a view of Lake Biograd.
Reef 4: Mucnica – Marinkovac – Bjelogrivac – Strmenica
This northernmost ridge, stretching between Ravna Rijeka and Bjelojevicka River, is a haven for intrepid adventurers. Here, Strmenica (2.122 m) reigns supreme, offering a glimpse of Bjelasica's untamed wilderness.
